Gran Canaria, May 22nd, 2025. Aerolaser System has officially inaugurated the Aerolaser Tech Center, a state-of-the-art technological innovation center located in the Industrial Park of Arinaga. With more than 2,100 m² dedicated to R&D&I, these facilities are designed to lead the development and industrialization of LiDAR sensors, high resolution cameras and advanced geospatial analysis systems.
The institutional event brought together authorities from the political, academic and industrial spheres, as well as leading figures from the national technology sector. The inauguration coincided with the recognition of Aerolaser as SME of the Year 2024, an award granted by Banco Santander and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, and presented by His Majesty King Felipe VI.
During the event, attendees were able to learn first-hand about Aerolaser’s most innovative technological systems, including AeSystem, AeLiDAR, AeGimbal and DALIA software, designed for the intelligent management of digital twins.
Highlights of Statements
The President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, stressed that “this inauguration shows that the Canary Islands is much more than tourism; here there is talent, research and companies that take advantage of it to compete internationally. Aerolaser is a clear example of how collaboration between educational centers and companies generates real value from our islands”.
The president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, celebrated the fact that “a company like Aerolaser has chosen to set up in a public-private industrial park on the island, exemplifying the link between institutions and the business fabric for technological development. In addition, it allows to generate real opportunities for young talents trained in our universities”.
For his part, the mayor of Agüimes, Óscar Hernández, stressed that “the municipality becomes a key ally for the growth of the technology and research sector, and provides land and resources for initiatives like this to continue to expand”.
From the state level, the deputy director general of Aerospace Policy and Strategy, Héctor Guerrero, stressed that “the Canary Islands are strategically positioning themselves on the aerospace map. It is time for the administrations to work together to consolidate this ecosystem”.
The director of Elewit and CITO of Redeia, Silvia Bruno, pointed out that “the great technological challenges can only be addressed through public-private collaboration and collective intelligence”.
Representing Aerolaser System, its CEO and co-founder, José María Luque Sillero, pointed out that “this center was born with the vocation of generating real value from technology, knowledge and excellence, projecting the Canary Islands towards a more sustainable future”. Its CTO and co-founder, Tomás Herrera Azorín, added that “each development is born with the purpose of having a positive and lasting impact on our land and the world”.
A center designed to lead innovation
The Aerolaser Tech Center has computer, electronics, optical and mechanical laboratories, rapid prototyping areas, assembly lines and processing rooms with artificial intelligence. This infrastructure is designed to cover the entire innovation cycle, from research to industrial implementation of technological solutions.
With the support of FEMEPA, an association linked to the company, Aerolaser reinforces its commitment to the development of local talent, betting on qualified employment, dual training and knowledge transfer. It currently has 65 employees, 20 students in dual training and several interns from the ULPGC, with the goal of exceeding 100 direct jobs in 2027.
International projection from the Canary Islands
Aerolaser System has established itself as a benchmark in geospatial capture and analysis, developing solutions applied to strategic sectors such as energy, infrastructure, transport, environment or territorial planning, among others. Its AeLiDAR project, a pioneer at international level, is an example of the potential of the talent generated in the Canary Islands.
The Aerolaser Tech Center symbolizes an ambitious vision: to build from the islands a solid technological ecosystem, connected to the world, and committed to excellence, sustainability and innovation with impact.
