Aerolaser, one of the companies that will participate in the ‘E-Hydro’ Project

  • The amount, which exceeds 3.8 million euros, will be used to invest in the development and implementation of innovations that promote the sustainable management of water resources.
  • This award marks the beginning of a pioneering collaboration in the development of digital twins applied to watersheds.

Aerolaser will participate together with other companies and institutions – Cemosa, Adasa, Insitu, Institute of Environmental Diagnosis and Water Studies (IDAEA-CSIC) and the Universities of Vigo and Salamanca – in a European initiative that seeks to simulate and predict potential scenarios in water infrastructures through the generation of digital twins. This project is part of the TransMisiones call for R+D+i in Strategic Lines 2023, managed by the State Research Agency of the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

This achievement marks the beginning of a pioneering collaboration in the generation of digital twins applied to watersheds, where Aerolaser will play a key role in adding value in the work module related to the use of an innovative dynamic data acquisition system, our valuable AeSystem. This module, fundamental to the generation of accurate data, will be essential to the success of the E-Hydro project.

In the case of Aerolaser, the company will design and develop a combined infrared and green laser LiDAR system, to generate the digitalisation of the watershed by generating a digital twin of the banks, the environment and the basin of the waterways.

In the words of Tomás Herrera Azorín, CTO of Aerolaser System, “E-HYDRO gives us the opportunity to take our R+D capabilities around LIDAR airborne systems towards the analysis of hydrological channels, making more sense than ever to do so since water is a precious and scarce resource and we have to look after it”.

With this award, Aerolaser consolidates itself as an innovative leader in the geospatial sector and the sustainable management of water resources. Active participation in “E-Hydro” not only reinforces its position as a benchmark in advanced technology, but will also contribute significantly to the development of smart solutions for water management at the national level.

The TransMisiones R+D+i call has recognised the strategic importance of this project, aligning itself with the thematic priority of “advanced management of water resources”. Aerolaser, together with the rest of the partners, is ready to lead innovation in this challenging and vital field, offering analytical and predictive solutions for sustainable water management in watersheds.
