From the filtered, classified and edited laser point cloud, the Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and Digital Surface Models (DSM) are obtained. The high LiDAR densities allow to obtain information of the ground where the photogrammetric methods do not arrive, like under the dense vegetation. The interpretation of the restitution operator is eliminated during the delineation of contour lines process, and these are obtained directly from the MDT LiDAR. The accuracy of the model can reach up to 5 cm with good field control.
Both MDT and MDS can be used to orthorectify aerial photograms and obtain great detail and accuracy orthophotos, even true orthophoto (elimination of conical projection in constructions).
Densities greater than 100 points / m2 can be obtained with the laser scanner, which allows a calculation of high precision distances, for example in high voltage power lines.
